Virginia Welcomes Virginia Fashion Week
It appeared rather obvious that the numerous amounts of patrons who attended the Designers Showcase at the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia on November 11,2007 were profoundly pleased. The atrium echoed with grand applause as the models took a final pass down a tree lined runway. If only trees could talk. While there was sort of an annoying lag between each designers showcase, the alluring colors, fabrics, textures and brilliant designs provoked attention. The Virginia Fashion Week 2007 now bares accomplishment.
Virginia Fashion Week, welcome! to the state Virginia.

Zulema Works Her Mojo At The Virginia Fashion Weeks 2007 Launch Party

Zulema Griffin backed handed the simple meaning of Mojo, but in fact gave merit to the true definition to the word. (Slang- power, luck, etc., as of magical or supernatural origin). Charm or amulet thought to have magic powers. We won’t debate whether Zulema graced Club Mojo’s with supernatural powers, but if her intention was to radiate a spell bounding Ore within a small limelight of approximately 100 people at Club Mojo’s, she did just that without holding anything back.
In sharing dialogue with Zulema, she energetically stated that she was content and pleased to be introducing some of the newer additions to the Zulema line at the Launch party as well as at this coming Sunday’s runway show.

Zulema Griffin began her career as a fashion model with the prestigious Ford Agency, gracing the pages of Bazaar, The Face, I.D., Essence, Interview, and Paper magazine. With her training at Parson's School of Design, and an affinity towards fashion, Zulema insisted upon making her own garments while working as a model and restaurant hostess in New York and was discovered by a film director looking for people to staff his costume department. Since her first feature in 2001, Zulema has worked with actors Adrian Grenier, Emily Deschanel, Douglas Smith, and Willie Garson just to name a few. In 2005, she appeared as a contestant on Season II of Bravo's PROJECT RUNWAY. Gaining the favor of the show's judges Heidi Klum, Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenburg, and Nina Garcia, Zulema's skill kept her in the competition until near the end. She won a design challenge which resulted in the production of a garment worn by World Champion skater Sacha Cohen. Zulema has continued her work as a costume designer as well as created her own collections, now available to boutiques. She will be showing her spring 2008 collection "Slave to the Rhythm: Fela's Wives" which made its debut during New York Fashion Week.
The primary events of Virginia Fashion Week will be held at the Contemporary Art Center Of Virginia, which is located in the Coastal City of Virginia Beach.

Virginia Fashion Comes To Hampton Roads For The First Time
As the Pop Culture remains a silent niche within the Hampton Roads area, on November 11th, Virginia Fashion Week will emerge with diligence to break the silence which is plaguing a brilliant artist culture. Breaking the chains of decades of artist stifling, will be the stunning and innovative daughter of Fats Domino, the legendary Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Karen Domino White will boldly articulate her ability to multi-task between a flourishing career as a singer/song writer and an evolving Fashion Designer. In formulating a process where denim times urban pop art, times the human body, Karen will unveil her distinctive fashion line tagged as “Jean Therapy”
The Hampton Roads Pop Culture is infractically kicking its way through a triple lined paper bag in order to thrive within a conservative, biblical, military confine. With remnants of decayed culture scattered about, Virginia will undergo a transfusion of spirited Pop Cultural blood. The fusion of vibrant imagination will step to the runway. Be prepared to ooh! and aah! as a combination of 19 designers from Virginia and neighboring states unveil their excellence.
Splash Model Management will host “Virginia Fashion Week” with a humbling conscious objective in order to celebrate the creativity of fashion designers from Virginia and beyond, as well as to spotlight the fashion and beauty industry including models, stylists, cosmetologists, photographers, retailers, and a cadre of individuals within the artistic culture.
Virginia Fashion Week will be held at the Contemporary Arts Center of Virginia, which is located in Virginia Beach. For additional information, visit
